Los Angeles Eyelid Surgery, or Ptosis Repair, is the cosmetic solution for the drooping of the upper eyelid. This causes the lid to cover part of the eye itself which leads to vision deficits and also causes a tired and sleepy appearance. Patients often have a hard time keeping their eyelids open and will compensate by arching their eyebrows in an effort to raise their drooping eyelids.
There are many causes of ptosis including weakening of the muscle that opens the upper eyelid, congenital weakness, trauma, prior surgery, or neurologic disease. However, the most common reason is due to stretching of the tendon that attaches to the major muscle responsible for elevating the upper eyelid from aging. Having Los Angeles Eyelid Surgery will not only restore a more youthful appearance, but will also help improve any visual deficits from the ptosis. This procedure is often done in conjunction with an upper lid blepharoplasty.
Whether you want to improve upon your overall appearance or are experiencing limited vision due to drooping eyelids, Dr. Henry Chen, MD can assess your condition and tailor a surgery plan suited to your needs. Non-surgical solutions are always considered before deciding upon Blepharoplasty in Los Angeles. You may find that a combination of surgical and non-surgical procedures are best to achieve the most desirable results.

Eyelid Surgery Recovery Process
Recovery from eyelid surgery is minimal. The initial eyelid rejuvenation healing time takes about 2-3 days. Over the course of that two or three days the patient should apply a cold compress in 20 minute intervals to the eye area. As with any surgery it is natural to have minor bruising, but this is no cause for alarm. Your can return to normal activities after the 2 to 3 day healing period is over, with the exception of strenuous activity. After you follow up exam, your surgeon will inform you of when it is safe to return to your regular exercise regime.
Some patients may combine other procedures with their Los Angeles Blepharoplasty Procedure
