REJUVENATE YOUR SKIN WITH
PRP AND PRF

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) are innovative regenerative treatments that utilize your body’s own regenerative capabilities to address a wide range of concerns.

What are PRP and PRF?

Both PRP and PRF are obtained from a patient’s own blood. Plasma that is concentrated with platelets which contain growth factors is obtained by centrifugation. This plasma is then injected into the face where the growth factors stimulate tissue repair and regeneration as well as the production of collagen and elastin. This results in younger looking, healthier skin. Often, these are combined with other treatments including microneedling, microdermabrasion, and facials.

BENEFITS

Benefits of PRP and PRF

  • Improve skin texture and tone
  • Stimulate collagen and elastin production
  • Promote tissue repair and regeneration
  • Reduce the appearance of scars
  • Promote hair growth
  • Reduce wrinkles and fine lines
  • Natural and safe

PRP vs. PRF: Understanding the Key Differences

While both PRP and PRF utilize platelets from your blood, there are notable distinctions that can influence which treatment is best suited for your needs:

TECHNIQUE

PRP involves a higher-speed centrifugation process, resulting in a plasma with a lower concentration of white blood cells and fibrin. PRF uses a slower speed, preserving more white blood cells and a fibrin matrix.

DURATION OF EFFECT

PRF contains a rich fibrin matrix that acts as a scaffold, allowing for a slower and more sustained release of growth factors over a longer period. PRP releases growth factors more quickly.

GROWTH FACTOR CONCENTRATION

While both are rich in growth factors, PRF has a higher concentration of platelets and growth factors due to the gentler processing.

ADDITIVE

PRP typically uses an anticoagulant during processing, while PRF is prepared in a completely natural way without an anticoagulant, leading to the formation of the fibrin clot.

APPLICATIONS

Both PRP and PRF are used for skin rejuvenation and hair restoration. PRF is favored for under-eye hollows and wound healing due to its sustained release and fibrin matrix.

STEP-BY-STEP THROUGH A PRP/PRF

What Happens During a
PRP/PRF INJECTION?

The entire procedure usually takes 20-30 minutes.

1

Consultation

Before the procedure, you’ll meet with Dr. Chen to review your goals. He will evaluate your facial anatomy and determine the right treatment for you.

2

Preparation

Topical numbing cream will be applied to your face. Blood will be drawn from a vein in your arm, like a routine blood draw. This will then be centrifuged to obtain PRP or PRF. Microdermabrasion is often performed prior to injection.

3

Injection

The PRP or PRF will be injected with a fine needle or cannula into the areas of concern.

4

Post-Treatment Care

Mild swelling, redness, or bruising may occur but usually subside within 1-2 days. Most individuals can return to their normal activities shortly after the procedure. The natural components used in PRP and PRF contribute to a quick and uncomplicated recovery.
